Following are the symbols that you will find in the email posts:

NRPG - used to indicate non role-play game comments
RPG - used to indicate role-play game comments
OOC - can be used instead of NRPG
IC - can be used instead of RPG
=/\= - used to indicate a communicator conversation or ship-to-ship communication or ship-to-away-team communication or the computer's response to an inquiry
" " - used to indicate conversations with fellow officers withouht using communicators
* - used to indicate thoughts or sometimes mental telepathy
